Storytelling

WHY ME?

If you have chosen me to tell your Wedding story… Get ready because my POSITIVE OUTGOING VIBE is going to knock your socks off… AND I’M NOT KIDDING!

I want to use this space to share a little bit about how I document the most important day of your life!

I work extremely hard to capture your wedding in the most authentic way possible. I am a STORYTELLER and rarely a MAKE-BELIEVER.

What this means is, I prefer to capture moments as they happen, instead of making moments happen. I never want to interrupt the flow of your day. In order to tell your story, I need you to show me that story!

DJ DANCE FLOOR LIGHTING

During wedding receptions, of course you’re going to want the party lights that DJ’s have to offer. One thing to keep in mind is that these lights look great for the party portion but when it comes to your first dance and your father daughter dance etc. These can be a bit overwhelming and usually cast some heavy red and green casts on the skin. I usually ask if it’s possible for you to speak with your DJ and ask them if they are able to use white lighting only for the important parts of the dance. If that isn’t an option then I highly recommend asking them to just keep their lights off for this portion of the dances. I’ll have flash photography and use constant video lights for filming your reception.

PRE-PLANNING (LOCATIONS)

I understand that not everyone has a “picture perfect” home. That is not important. What is important, is knowing when expectations meet reality.

Clean, tidy spaces with an abundance of natural light are going to photograph better then..say… a dark hotel room with green coloured carpets! Spaces and pre-planning those spaces are so so so important when you have a specific idea in mind for your photographs.

If your home isn’t what you envisioned for a location to get ready, i highly recommend looking into an Airbnb or using a family member or close friends home instead!

CEREMONY LOCATION:

My biggest piece of advice with this is….. Do not fear the weather!!!!! If you can, pick a location that has the option of either indoor or outdoor ceremony space. Whether it is a summer wedding and you are worried about the rain, or a winter wedding and you are worried about the cold/ snow. Pick a place that allows both… ya, you’ll be thanking me later, I promise! Another thing to think about if your wedding ceremony is outdoors, place your ceremony location so that the sun is behind the arch! Let me know if you need help with this. I’d love to come and check out your spot and even help with the design of it!

TIMING

I have included 3 separate timelines below so you can see the different options that you have.

I have fined tuned these specifically from every Wedding I’ve EVER shot!

My BIGGEST advice? Make sure to allow yourself time to breath on your Wedding Day!

EXTRAS

At each and every Wedding, I ask my couples to take 5 minutes…. in a quiet room, away from all of the busy-ness… to just say something to their future partner. You can read out your vows if you’ve created your own and if not, I highly suggest writing a little letter before hand so you can read it out. I attach my mic recorder and leave the room so you can do this alone. It can be ABSOLUTELY anything that you’re feeling at the moment or what you want them to know about how absolutely excited you are to become their person for the rest of your lives. I live for those personal touches and intimate moments during weddings!

Sunset Photos

With this timeline, sun will be very high up in the sky during your ceremony unless it is a cloudy day. Picking an area either in the shade, or with the sun behind the arch would be ideal.

Un-Traditional With First Look

This timeline sets your ceremony when the sun is much lower in the sky. I highly recommend making sure you set up your ceremony area so that the sun is behind the arch. This timeline also has all of the bridal party formals, before the ceremony even starts. Doing it this way means you can have a later ceremony and your guests won’t need to wait as long in between the ceremony and reception.
